The Mall Road

The Mall Road of Manali is a famous tourist attraction where you can see hundreds of travellers roaming around and enjoying the views of the valley. There are a lot of shops for various items on Mall Road in Manali.

You will find various options for stays and food on Mall Road in Manali. The bus stand of Manali is also located beside the Mall road. Here you can get the buses to various locations like Kullu, Kasol and various other nearby locations.

Hadimba Temple:

It is an ancient temple of Hidimba Devi, the wife of a famous character of Mahabharata Bhima.This temple is surrounded by the cedar temple which is called as Dungri Van Vihar.

This temple was built in 1553 by Maharaja Bahadur Singh. It was built around a cave where Devi Hidimba performed meditation. Born in the Rakshasha Family, Hidimba decided to marry one who would defeat her brother Hidimb.

Solang Valley:

Solang Valley is a valley located nearly 15km away from the main city of Manali. This is as famous as the kufri of Shimla. Solang Valley is a very famous tourist attraction where you will find a lot of Adventure activities.

Solang Valley is completely covered with snow in the winter and various snow-related activities are found here in the winter season. Activities like Skiing, Paragliding, snowboarding, Ice-Climbing, quad-biking, trekking etc are found here.

Apart from this, there are a lot of food options found here. Maggi of the mountains is very famous and it tastes very delicious there. They have an amazing recipe of making the maggie and this was my favourite in the hills.

You will also find a lot of tea stalls in the Solang Valley and other stalls like Sweet corn etc are also found there. If you are planning to visit Manali, Solang Valley should be a must-have location in your itinerary.

Old Manali:

Old Manali is located almost 3 to 5 km away from Mall Road and Manu Temple is the main attraction of Old Manali. Basically, Old Manali is the combination of Old And New. Here you will various old locations as well as various new tourist attractions.

There is a small river flowing on one side of Old Manali and on the other side, you will see a lot of hotels, restaurants and Shops etc where you can buy local items made of wood etc which will seem to be very attractive.

Here you can also see a lot of food options and stalls for Dry fruits and pickles. If you are thinking of purchasing dry fruits from there, ensure that they are of good quality as there are a lot of fraudsters there selling the degraded quality of dry fruits.

Manu Temple:

This is an ancient temple dedicated to Rishi Manu. The name of Manali is also on the name of Manu, the lawgiver. This famous saint protected the region from the great Floods and that is why the region is named after him. Manu temple is fully built of natural materials like Wood and stones which are easily found there. This is a mesmerising location for the religious tourists.

Vashisht Bath:

According to the Hindu religion, Vashisht Bath located in Bashisht village almost 3km away from Manali is of immense significance as it is the home to Sage Vashisht, One of the Saptarishis.

There is a hot spring here where you can bath as it is considered holy to bath here. This temple of Sage Vashisht is almost 4000 years old and has a very impressive architecture.

Naggar Castle:

It was once the home of the Raja of Kullu and now is turned into a Hotel. Naggar Castle is an old building built around 1460 and now it is converted into a restaurant and a heritage hotel under the authority of the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Department.

Rahalla Falls:

It is located almost 16km away from Manali on the way to Rohtang Pass and almost 8500 metres high. People going to Rohtang always stop here to enjoy the scenic beauty of the place and click pictures.

In the winter, the scene gets more impressive with the snowfall around and a waterfall in the centre. If you are going to Manali, you must visit this place as you will enjoy the scenic beauty of the place.

Nehru Kund:

Nehru Kund is also located on the Manali-Rohtang highway almost 5km away from the Manali bus stand. It is also one of the famous tourist attractions of Manali.

India’s Ex-PM Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru always visited this place whenever he visited Manali and he liked to drink water from here. This waterfall is also named after him.

Arjun Gufa:

Arjun Gufa is one of the exceptional and astonishing natural formations located on the left of Beas near the village Prini. This is a Picnic spot and a famous tourist attraction also.

After a point, you will see complete darkness and you will need to use your flashlights to explore the place. It takes around 45 minutes to explore it completely.

The cave is open 24 hours but it is advisable to visit only in the daytime. Also, you should not carry heavy baggage as the passage of the cave is very narrow.

Jogini Falls:

It is the best waterfall in Manali as compared to the small waterfalls you see there. To reach here, you will have to trek from the Vashisht temple for around one hour and you will reach there

After reaching the location you can see the beautiful view of the waterfall. You can also see a lot of tourists bathing in the waterfall there and it will be a mesmerising view there.

The Manali Gompa:

Gompa of Manali is a basically a Buddhist monastery located very close to Mall road. This is a very beautiful place and you will see a lot of locals following the Buddhist sect worshipping there and a lot of travellers visiting here and enjoying the Buddhist culture and the architecture of the Monastery.

This Monastery was built by the Tibetan refugees in 1960. It is small in size but it releases a boundless spiritual energy.

how to reach Manali:

Reaching Manali is a bit more complicated than visiting Shimla as there is no train route to Manali. However, with the recent developments, the road route to Manali has been improved to a greater extent.

The is a direct highway from Chandigarh to Manali via Mandi and Kullu which is approximately 250 km away from Chandigarh. The road is quite impressive with an amazing view of snow-covered mountain Peaks and Valleys on the Sides.

You will easily get the Volvo buses from Delhi and Chandigarh to Manali which will cost you around 1000 rupees and will take a time of approx. 15 hours from Delhi and around 8 hours from Chandigarh.

Apart from this, you can also take a flight to Bhuntar Airport near Kullu and from there you can hire a local taxi to reach Manali.

Manali trip cost:

The cost for your Manali depends on various factors but if you want to have a Rough idea about it then we can assume that you are travelling solo on public transport for almost 4 Days then it will cost you around Rs. 8000 including your stay and tickets.

This cost can vary according to the facilities you hire and the stays you book but this is a rough idea that at least this is the minimum cost you will have to pay for a Manali trip.

There are a lot of stay options in Manali and you can book them online on various platforms. a decent stay in Manali will cost you around 500/day if you are travelling solo.

There are a lots of stay options in and around Manali but if you are travelling solo, then you should stay in a hostel and the hostellers is the best hostel which I personally like the most. It is located in the Old Manali and is one of the best stays.

If you are travelling by public transport, it is recommended to take a stay near the mall road as everything is easily available there and a lot of stays are also available there. But if you are travelling by your own vehicle then it is always recommended that you should stay away from the centre as you will enjoy the peace of the place there.
